Gertrude (Kujawa) Szymaszek, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into heaven on Sunday January 29, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY after a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Kujawa.

Gertrude was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. The eldest of eight children, she worked hard to help support her family. On May 31, 1947 she married Stanley Szymaszek at the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls following his discharge from the U.S. Military. At the time of her retirement she was employed at the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls, NY.

In addition to her husband of sixty four years, Mrs. Szymaszek is survived by one daughter. Patricia (August A.) Iacovitti of Lewiston, NY; one grandson, Albert S. Iacovitti, four sisters Bernice (late Ziggy) Rannalli of Texas, Patricia (late Joseph) Covatto of Niagara Falls, NY; Lorraine (Anthony) Carella of Lewiston, NY and Geraldine (Neil) Hamilton of Arizona, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Walter (late Jenny) Kujawa, Robert (Angie of Wheatfield, NY) Kujawa and one sister Virginia (late Larry) Bennett.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday February 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Lynn Shumway officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Arrangements by M.J.
