Obituary

Gina Silvestri, 83, formerly of Niagara Falls and of Grand Island, NY, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, at Beechwood Continuing Care in Getzville, NY. Born in Introdacqua, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Panfilia (Giuliani) Ciamacco.

Gina immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, arriving in 1963, where she was employed at a chocolate factory.  She married the love of her life, Costantino Silvestri, on October 24, 1964, at St. Anthony's Church in Hamilton, Ontario, and relocated to Niagara Falls, NY after their marriage. Together, they built a life full of love and devotion.  Mr. Silvestri predeceased her on December 16, 2024.

Gina was employed in housekeeping in Niagara County Building and Grounds for 11 years.  She also was employed in the same capacity at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and also worked as a cook for several years in the 1980s at Fortuna's Restaurant.  She enjoyed weekly lunches with the ladies from her hometown of Introdacqua, Italy.  She was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Auxiliary Society and the Women's Club of Grand Island.

Gina enjoyed cooking, shopping, vacationing and going to the casino.  Most of all, she loved and cherished her family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Gina is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Joseph) Gadawski and was sadly predeceased by her daughter, Lisa (John) Turck. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joseph Gadawski, Daniel Gadawski, Olivia Turck and Natalie Turck; her siblings, Michele (Silvana) Ciamacco, Osvaldo Ciamacco, Vitalia Ciamacco, brother-in-law, Pietro (Nunziata) Silvestri as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her daughter and her husband of 60 years, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mariannina (late Andro) Constantinou, Elvira (late Luigi) Silvestri, Pasquale (Lia) Ciamacco, Erma Ciamacco, Antonio (late Maria) Ciamacco, her brother-in-law Gaetano (Filomena) Silvestri, and sisters in law Clementina (late Antonio) Petrilli and Nunziata Silvestri.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17 from 2 – 6 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:15 AM, followed by Gina's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/.   Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
