Giuseppina "Josephine" Spagnolo, of the Town of Niagara, formerly of Niagara Falls, born on June 26, 1924, in Siderno, Provence of Reggio Calabria, Italy, to the late Dominic and Teresa Ieraci. Giuseppina immigrated to the United States with her late husband, Rocco Spagnolo and their 2 young children in 1955.
Giuseppina helped provide for her family by sewing as a trained seamstress for family and friends and her passion for gardening contributed to her healthy delicious dinners around the family table throughout the year. She loved to sew, garden, and cook. She was on the Hyde Park Ladies Bocce league until the age of 93. Her greatest joy was being with her family, her love was always felt through her beautiful blue eyes and loving smile. She had a strong commitment to her Faith and Love of the Lord. Giuseppina & Rocco's biggest achievements were to make a better life for future generations of their family. One of their proudest moments was becoming US citizens.
Giuseppina is survived by her children Amalia (Natale) Spagnolo, Giuseppe (Suzette) Spagnolo, Theresa (Peter Ames) Brosius, and Marilyn (Dr. Michael) Marrone. Grandchildren, Frank (Tracy), Rocco (Danielle), Gregory (Alison) David (Kelly), and Julie (Abban Westby) Spagnolo, Lisa (Mike Williams), Lawrence (Vicki), and Joseph Monahan, Richard Brosius, Michael, Daniel (Jena) Marrone and Sarah (Stephen)Clougherty-Marrone. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Giuseppina was Predeceased by Her husband, Rocco Spagnolo in 2009, and her Son-in-Law Larry Brosius, sisters, Maria (late Vincenzo) Figliomeni, Rose (late Frank) Commisso, Immacolata (late Francesco) Spagnolo, & Girolama (late Pasquale) Iacco, and her very dear cousin, Immacolata Bonanno, and her Dearest Friend, Connie Girardo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24 th from 4 - 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 A.M, followed by Giuseppina's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr, Lockport, NY 14094 or St. Josephs Church.
