Obituary

Glenn A. Hansen, 51, of Grand Island NY, passed away on Thursday October 29, 2009 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Willa E. (Showers) Hansen of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Andrew H. Hansen.

Glenn was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He then attended Niagara County Community College in Sanborn NY and later earned Master's Degrees at Kettering University in Flint, MI. On September 22, 1979 he married Debbie S. (Delekta) Hansen at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Niagara Falls. Glenn was employed for twenty nine years as an engineer at General Motors Corp. in Tonawanda, NY. Passionate about cycling, Glenn was a member of the Buffalo Cycling Club. He was also a member of the Niagara Frontier Speed Skating club. He was also an avid outdoorsman with an interest in several activities year round which included fishing, golfing, boating, scuba diving, cross country skiing and kayaking. Glenn also enjoyed photography.

In addition to his wife of thirty years, Glenn is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Hansen and Ashley M. Hansen both of Grand Island, NY; one sister Kelly (George) Mariano of Niagara Falls, NY; one niece Nicole York, two nephews Ron Hansen and Scott York, several aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his three puppies, Rosie, Lucy and Caylee. Glenn was the son-in-law of Emily (late Stanley) Delekta, and brother-in-law of William (Betty) Delekta of Niagara Falls, NY and Lorrie (George) York of Grand Island, NY.

Friends may call on Sunday November 1st from 4 – 7:30 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a funeral service will be held following the visitation at 7:30 PM with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo NY 14240.
