Gloria A. (Perfetti) Onesi, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY died Tuesday July 13, 2010, while in the care of Hospice House in Lockport NY, after a long bout with cancer. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Marco and Concetta (Guzzi) Perfetti and the step-daughter of the late John Cornacchia. She married John Onesi on August 2, 1947 in St. Joseph's Church, Niagara Falls, NY.

Mrs. Onesi graduated from Niagara Falls High School and then after many years as a homemaker and at the age of 40, she graduated from the nursing program at Niagara County Community College. After graduation, she spent the next 25 years caring for the sick and elderly, retiring from Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in 1995. Mrs. Onesi was a long time member of St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls and member of their St. Padre Pio Prayer Group. She was also a dedicated volunteer at both St. Joseph's Church and Bishop Duffy High School, being a member of the Mothers' Clubs and working bingo. She loved to sew and was also a tremendous cook. If you left her house hungry, it was probably your own fault. Above all, Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband of nearly 64 years, Mrs. Onesi is survived her son, LTC Mark A. (Pamela) Onesi, USA, Ret. of Niagara Falls, NY, her grandson Josh Onesi and granddaughter Ruth Onesi, both of Niagara Falls, NY, her great-granddaughter, Aurella Onesi, her sisters, Mary (Anthony) Rovert of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Caroline (Eugene) Fera of Niagara Falls, NY, her brother Charles (late Rosetta) Perfetti of Wheatfield, NY and many wonderful In-laws and nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Joseph (late Martha) Perfetti and Anthony (late Elizabeth) Perfetti.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday July 17th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Joseph Dumphrey, O.S.F.S. officiating. Private interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
