Obituary

Grace Petrozzi, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the loving daughter of the late Vincent and Angela (Sicurella) Chiarenza.

Grace attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1946. As a young teenager, Grace began working at the former Capital Theater on Niagara Street in Niagara Falls, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Petrozzi, whom she later married on October 28, 1950, in St. Joseph Church. Also during high school she worked at the former Strand and Cataract Theaters on Falls Street in Niagara Falls as an usher prior to her marriage. Following high school, Grace worked at the Carborundum Corporation, where she was a part of the first business in Niagara Falls to own and operate a computer system. Once her children were older, Grace returned to work alongside her husband and son to run their family's business, Capitol Cleaners and Feldman Furs. She also served as the events coordinator for the National Cleaner's Association, while her husband served as president of the association.

Grace was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Cataract Church, as well as the Cataract Lodge, both located in Niagara Falls, NY. She enjoyed cooking, baking and working bingo. She also loved to tend to her garden and decorate for family weddings. Above all, Grace was the proud Matriarch of the family, who will be remembered dearly for her great sense of fashion.

The family would to extend a special thank you to the first floor nurses and aids at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility for the compassionate care given to our wife and mother.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, Mrs. Petrozzi is survived by her two children, Russell (Susan) Petrozzi of Niagara Falls, NY and Marcia (Robert) Britton of Hamburg, NY; seven grandchildren, Anne and Katherine Petrozzi, Robert Britton, Jr., Alexa Britton, Rachel (Craig) Goldenberg, and John (Lynda) Marino, Jr.; also, three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mae (late Anthony) Minicucci of Niagara Falls, NY and one brother-in-law Chuck Petrozzi of Niagara Falls, NY.
