Gregory W. Ferritto, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Salvatore and Marie (Reid) Ferritto.
Gregory was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman serving on the U.S.S. Foote in the Pacific theater until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1947. On September 3, 1949 he married Beverly E. (Wilson) . Mrs. Ferritto predeceased him on October 14, 2013. Gregory was an electrician and member of the I.B.E.W. Local 237 for 55 years and worked at various area construction sites including the Niagara Falls Power Project, Worlds Fair in New York,NY and Art Park in Lewiston, until retiring in 1987. He was a lifetime member and Past State President of the Loyal Order of the Moose and also a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (I.S.D.A.) Volare Lodge both in Niagara Falls. When his children were young, he volunteered as a coach for the LaSalle Little League and Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Ferritto is survived by six children Gregory (Cynthia) Ferritto, Jeffrey (Hollis) Ferritto, Susan (Anthony) Quarcini, Judith (Dennis) Hunter, Michael (Katherine) Ferritto, Marcia Ferritto. He was predeceased by his son William (Karen) Ferritto and two brothers Dr. Jerauld (Rose) Ferritto and Robert (late Lee) Reid. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael D. (Susan Gibbs) Ferritto, Jeffrey (Heather) Ferritto, Jr., Denise (Ben) Krahn, David Quarcini, Anthony Quarcini, Jason Ferritto, Ryan Ferritto, Sean (Charlotte) Ferritto, Gregory (Erin) Hunter, Aaron Hunter, Stefannie (Quentin Hock) Hunter, Sarah (Michael) Brower, Bert Ives and Tamara Ives; ten great grandchildren and one brother Sully (late Janice) Ferritto of Port Orange, FL.
Mr. Ferritto's family wish to extend special thanks to the Schoellkopf NH2 and Niagara Hospice Staff for the compassion and care given to him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent De Paul at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Andrew Lauricella officiating, concluding with military honors.There will be no prior visitation. Entombment in Sarasota V.A. National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL on February 27, 2015.
