Obituary

On January 2, 2015 Gus had been surrounded by his loving family during his last days and peacefully joined his wife Bernice in Heaven. Mr. Craver was born in W.Hazleton, Pa to the late William and Kate (Garlow) Craver. He was 91.


Gus as he was affectionately known by his family and friends graduated from Hazelton High School in 1941. Mr. Craver proudly served in the United States 3rd army tank division during WWII under General Patton from 1943-1945. Following the war he married his lovely wife Bernice Droski on October 26, 1946 in Thorold United Church, Thorold, Ontario. Mrs. Craver predeceased him August 11, 1988.


Gus worked as a Millwright for Union Carbide, Niagara Falls, NY. He also operated the cranes and worked as a fireman at the plant. He was known as a jack of all trades and a health nut. Gus would also help anyone in need. Mr. Craver enjoyed having family and friends over for homemade meals. He enjoyed spending time with his grand children, great grandchildren and especially loved when Kimberly would visit him on his porch.


Gus is survived by his beloved daughters, Barbara (Jim) Woodruff of Niagara Falls, NY and Gail (Ed) Thomas of Tennessee. Six grand children; Lisa (Peter) Ajemian, Amy Woodruff, Melanie Woodruff, David (Crystal) Thomas and Paul (Cynthia) Thomas. Seven Great grandchildren; Kaylee Ann Woodruff, Nicholas Hayes, Zoey Ann Ajemian, Presley Kimberly Ajemian, Levi Gregory Thomas, Ellie Grace Thomas and Blain Harold Thomas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Gus was also survived by a dear companion Diane Somers of Cheektowaga. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Craver was predeceased by his precious granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Woodruff; two brothers and four sisters, Charles (late Caroline) Craver, Elsie (late David) Houser, Catherine (late Melvin) Williams, Helen Craver, Arlene (late Joseph) Costello and Franklin (late Ruth) Craver.


Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 6th from 11 – 1 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services with Military Honors will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held Wednesday in Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold, Ontario.
