Hans "Joe" Weiss, 74, of Town of Niagara, NY passed away peacefully on Friday January 21, 2011 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, with his loving family by his side.

Joe was born in Berlin, Germany and was the son of the late Stefan and Gertrud (Raak) Weiss. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963, and lived by the motto, "Once a Marine, always a Marine." On January 2, 1960 he married Barbara (Shiah) Weiss at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Joe worked for E.I. DuPont and later as Maintenance Supervisor for General Motors in Tonawanda, NY.

Joe was an avid golfer; he also enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, bingo, and cheering for "his" New York Yankees. Most importantly his life was centered on the care of his family.

Joe had many medical obstacles over the last several years and overcame them all with a smile. He lived his life as a very honorable man and will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his wife of fifty-one years, Joe is survived by two daughters Katrina (Trent) Hamilton of Niagara Falls, NY and Traci (Kerry) Lloyd of Dover, DE; one granddaughter, Tiffany Lloyd; and three great-grandchildren, Trinity, Kaylee, and Cameron all of Dover, DE.

There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be celebrated Monday January 24th at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY.
