Harold E. Long Jr., 75, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 26, 2025.

Born in Manhattan, NY, Harold was the son of the late Harold E. and Bennie (Forshee) Long. He was raised in Manhattan, where he graduated from high school and first made a name for himself as an exceptional basketball player. His talent on the court led him to Niagara University, where he continued playing basketball while earning his Bachelor's degree.

Over the years, he held many positions and wore numerous hats, always bringing energy and commitment to whatever role he took on. He owned and operated the former Hot to Deaf Record Company in Niagara Falls and later ran the former Halfway House on 8th Street in Niagara, offering support and structure to those in need.

Deeply committed to helping young people, Harold served as a youth counselor at the YMCA. He was instrumental in guiding countless juveniles as they transitioned back into the community following their release from jail. His compassion and steady presence made a lasting impact on many lives. He also worked for the Niagara Falls City Works Department as the controller of the city yard, contributing to the daily operations that kept the city running smoothly.

Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he especially loved playing chess and dominoes.

He is survived by a large extended family, including his beloved cousin, Chu Chu. He also leaves behind several close friends, among them his best buddy, Tyrone Rowe, who remained by his side through the years.
