The Lord has called our mother home. Helen Masella, a native of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, at the age of 86. She was the loving daughter of the late Leonardo and Concetta (Pucariello) Campanaro.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended Niagara Falls High School. On October 21, 1950, she married Joseph J. Masella in St. Joseph Church. Joseph predeceased her on March 12, 2011, after 60 beautiful years together. Helen worked as a waitress at several local restaurants throughout the Niagara Falls and Buffalo area, most recently at the former Pete's Market House in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Masella was a longtime, devout member of the former St. Charles Borromeo Church in Niagara Falls. She was also a member of their choir and the First Saturday Society group at St. Charles Borromeo Church, as well as a choir member of St. Joseph Church. Helen was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed going to the Casino. She also enjoyed playing poker with "The Poker Chicks". Above all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Masella is survived by her four children, Kathleen J. Lloyd of Niagara Falls, NY, Anthony J. (Susan) Masella of Glendale, AZ, Mary Ann Masella of Niagara Falls, NY, Cynthia E. (John T.) Walker of Wheatfield, NY; five grandchildren, Ashleigh Lloyd, Steven Lloyd, Megan Lloyd, John Walker and Matthew Walker; four siblings Louis (Joan) Campanaro of Niagara Falls, NY, Rita (late James) Greenleaf of Nevada, Vincent Campanaro of Nevada and Ruth (Hank) Gonzalez of California. Helen is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen was predeceased by two sisters, Rachel (late Angelo) Trapasso, Mary (late Charles) Fister and two brothers, Anthony (late Betty) Campanaro and Paul (late Dottie) Campanaro.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18th from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow on Monday, October 19th at 9:15 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
