Helen M. Sofia
Surrounded by her family, Helen Sofia ,91, passed to her eternal
reward on November 9, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Carmen Sofia, mother of Daniel (Bita) Sofia, Joan (Arthur) Pierrot, Frank (Amy) Sofia and Carol (Glenn) Blake. Grandmother of Dana, Tony, David Sofia, Kendra and Ryan Pierrot, Annette(David) Pecenco, and Joseph and Katherine Blake. Also Great Grandmother of Molly
and Megan Pecenco.
Helen and Carmen were both early volunteers at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine and the Barnabite Ministry in Youngstown, New York for over thirty-five years. Both were recognized for their dedication by the Catholic
Church in 1990 when they were bestowed with Canonical Affiliation, the highest
honor given to lay people.
A private Mass of Christian burial took place on
November 11, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niagara Falls, New York with burial
following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, New York. Funeral Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, Niagara Falls, NY.
