Obituary

Helen (Butry) Taylor, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday November 1, 2014 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Seneta) Butry.

Helen was raised and educated in Wilkes-Barre, PA and on October 13, 1945 she married William Taylor, Sr. In 1951 she and her husband came to Niagara Falls where she lived until the present time. Mr. Taylor predeceased her on November 27, 1996. During the 1980's Helen was a frequent user of a citizens band radio (CB Radio) and was known as Pussy Cat to the many friends she made worldwide. In her leisure time, she loved gardening, ceramics and Bingo. Helen also had a passion for kitties and was mama to many of them over the years.

Helen's family wishes to extend a special thank you for the wonderful care and support of Niagara Hospice as well as her nurse Liz, her aid Rose and her massage therapist Chelsa. We not only thank you for your loving care and kindness but for becoming a part of our family.

Helen is survived by two children William (Mary) Taylor, Jr., TSgt USAF Ret. (1960-1991) of O'Fallon, IL and Terry (Robert) Holloway of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren Jennifer Lee Gustafason-McCooey; April Faith (Christopher) Taylor and Tamie Rochelle Taylor; two great grandchildren Justin Taylor and Alexis Taylor and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters Catherine Butry and Rose (late Andrew) Kush and three brothers Michael (late Mary) Butry, Harry (late Ann) Butry and John Butry.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY with services at 7 P.M. with Rev. Carolyn A. Peeler officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY or to the American Lung Association of NYS, 155 Washington Avenue, Ste 210, Albany NY 12210.
