Henry R. Monti, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday April 3, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Timblin, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Basseti) Monti.

Henry came to Niagara Falls as a child with his family and attended local schools. On October 26, 1940, he married Joan M. (Pirastru) Monti at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him on May 4, 2008. For twenty eight years, Henry worked at the former International Paper Company in Niagara Falls until its closing. He was later employed by the New York State Parks Commission in their Maintenance Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1983. Henry was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, as well as their St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also an accomplished musician, and played saxophone and clarinet at special occasions throughout the area with various local bands. Above all, Henry took great pleasure in spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Mr. Monti is survived by his two children; Ronald L. (Gail) Monti of Grand Island, NY and Janice M. (Chuck) Gandt of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren; Deanne (John) Giambra, Christina (Bill) Roth and Capt. Jonathan D. Monti, U.S. Army; five great-grandchildren Jordyn, Jenna, Madison, Adrienne and Matthew as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters; Louis (Sharon of Niagara Falls, NY) Monti, Walter (late Rose) Monti, Nellie (late William) Frosini and Emma (late George) Sawma.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday April 8th at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. Everyone will assemble at Church. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
