Obituary

Henry A. Viverito, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday September 28, 2013 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was the son of the late Benedict and Sylvia (Cardinale) Viverito.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Henry attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School and attended Erie Community College. During World War II, he served in the United States Army from January 13, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 27, 1946 and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. On June 7, 1947, he married Angeline (Oliver) Viverito in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Viverito predeceased him on May 14, 1996. Henry worked as a millwright and later as maintenance supervisor for over 35 years at Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield, NY and retired in 1985. Mr. Viverito had the opportunity to witness and be a part of the construction of many historical military and rocket projects during his tenure at Bell Aerospace. Henry was a member of the UAW Local 501 and was recording secretary for UAW 501 skilled trades. He was also a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA) Volare Lodge in Niagara Falls, NY. Henry volunteered for over 25 years with "Monday Coffee" at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He also enjoyed golf, and was most proud of hitting a hole-in-one on the ninth hole of the white nine and Hyde Park Golf Course in Niagara Falls. An avid card player, he was a champion player in the euchre and pinochle league at John Duke Senior Center in Niagara Falls.

Mr. Viverito is survived by four children, Sylvia (Lawrence) Baptiste of Gasport, NY, Andrea (Lawrence) Martinez of Prescott, AZ, Tom (Barbara) Viverito of North Augusta, SC, and Sally (Alain) Dube of Bristol, CT; seven grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Martinez, Cara Viverito, Allsion Viverito, Leah (Martin) Maul, Andrea Dube, Matthew Baptiste, and Joshua Baptiste; four great-grandchildren, Jason and Alex Martinez and Martin Maul, Jr. and Crosby Maul; one sister, Mary (late Salvatore) Paonessa of Niagara Falls, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friend, Florence Casale. Henry was predeceased by four brothers, Charles Viverito, Philip "Bubbles" (late Teresa) Viverito, Sam (late Amine) Viverito, Frank (late Grace) Viverito and three sisters Josephine (late Tom) Viverit, Laura (late Robert) Brown, and Nina (late Nick Morreale) (late Stanley) Smeadala.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday October 2nd at 10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with military honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
