Hugh Bass, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Niagara Rehab & Nursing Center. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley and Dorothy Hohenstein.

Hugh moved to Niagara Falls as a child with his family and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He honorably served in the United States Navy prior to returning home to work at Union Carbide. Hugh most recently worked at Guido's Upholstery in Niagara Falls for over 15 years until his retirement.

Hugh enjoyed going to the horse track, as well as playing craps at the casino and golfing. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Hugh is survived by his children, John Edward Hayes, Michael (Lynne) Bass, Patrick Bass, Daniel (Jennifer) Bass and Paul (Kimberly) Bass; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two siblings, Jim Lutman and Daniel Lutman.

In accordance to Hugh's wishes there will be no immediate services, however A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
