Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Carolina (Presta) Palumbo. Ida came to Niagara Falls with her family in 1923 and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Niagara University at the age of 50.

As a young girl, Ida sold movie tickets at the Rainbow Theater on Pine Ave. in Niagara Falls, NY. Later, she worked at Sears & Roebuck, Pittsburgh Metallurgical (SKW/Globe) where she retired. Never one to sit around, she then earned her Real Estate license after she retired and worked part time for Hooper Realty in Niagara Falls, NY.

Ida was an animal lover through and through, believing that you couldn't trust anyone that didn't love animals. She often took in strays animals to help them and nurse them back to health if necessary. Cats, dogs and even pigeons received the benefit of Ida's tremendous ability to care and nurture any sick animal that needed her help.

Ida was predeceased by three brothers William, Albert and Alfred Palumbo, and four sisters Theresa Spina, Edith Spina, Ellen Stumpo and Rose Palumbo. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, great- great nieces and great-great-nephews, as well as her beloved cats.

There will be no prior visitation. Everyone is invited to attend a Committal Service to be held Tuesday September 21st at 11 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 500 Riverdale Ave. Lewiston, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY.
