Ida G. (Gasbarro) Soda, 90 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on surrounded by her family on Tuesday December 1, 2009 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born September 15, 1919 in Derry, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emidio and Cristina (Mastrorocco) Gasbarro.
Ida was a graduate of Derry High School in Pennsylvania. She moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1940 and on November 19, 1945, married Anthony Soda in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Soda predeceased her November 2, 1999. Ida began working in Niagara Falls at Moore Business Forms. Afterwards she worked at DiCamillo Bakery and Latina Importing Co., and returned to work for DiCamillo Bakery until her retirement. Ida was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. She was actively involved in the Mother's Club's of St. Joseph's School, Bishop Duffy and Madonna High School's. Ida was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Niagara University Basketball, and in her leisure time, enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
Mrs. Soda is survived by her two children, Ann C. Soda and Frank A. (Betty) Soda both of Niagara Falls, NY, one grandson Spec. Christopher (Angela) Soda, United States Army, one great-grandson Vincent Soda, two brothers, Dominick (late Rose) Gasbarro of Quakertown, PA, Ernest (Elsie) Gasbarro of Grand Island, NY, her sister-in-law Helen (late Louis) Walters of Niagara Falls, Ontario and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Amelia (late Paul) Minni, Joseph Gasbarro, Adam (late Phyllis) Gasbarro, Susan (late Bill) DiCamillo, Mary (late Guido) DiFrancesco, Velma (late Frank) DiMarco, Lenore (late Dominic) Palumbo, Elizabeth (late Salvatore) Cosentino and Theodora Gasbarro.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday December 5th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
