Irene Jacob, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday November 7, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Julia (Szczesniak) Mort.

Irene, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls NY, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On July 8, 1950 she married Jack A. Jacob at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Jacob predeceased her on February 27, 1999. Irene was employed in the Deli Department of Tops Supermarket on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls and later as an inspector at Voyager Emblems in Sanborn, NY. One of Irene's favorite pastimes was playing the slot machines at the Casino. Most of all her life was centered around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene is survived by two sons Michael (Diane) Jacob of Niagara Falls, NY and Thomas "Jake" Jacob of Wilson, NY; six grandchildren Angela Jacob of Buffalo, Thomas (Melissa) Jacob of Colorado, Anthony Jacob (Bobbi Lovewell) of North Tonawanda, NY; Timothy Jacob (Jenniffer Graham) of Niagara Falls, NY; TJ Jacob of Wilson, NY and Amber Lester of Niagara Falls, NY; eight great grandchildren Riley, Tyler, Makayla, Sahara and "GG" to London, Amelia, Isaac and Madelyn, two brothers Edward (late Josephine) Mort of Niagara Falls, NY and Ronald (Paula) Mort of Youngstown, NY; one sister Margaret Mort Polino of Amherst, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday November 11th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
