Irene Karwasinski, 87 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on October 15, 2016 at Elderwood of Wheatfield Residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Theodore S. Carman and Lottie (Subczak) Karwasinski.
Irene was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1948. She later attended Buffalo State College where she earned a degree in elementary education. On June 16, 1951, Irene married Edwin A. Karwasinski at St. Teresa's Church. Mr. Karwasinski predeceased her on October 29, 1983. Irene was employed as an elementary teacher for the City of Niagara Falls Board of Education for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. Irene was actively involved in the NFHS Class of 1948 Reunion Committee. She was also an avid golfer, and enjoyed crocheting, playing mahjong and bingo. Above all Irene's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Susan (Victor) Montalbo and Karen (Richard) Costanzo, and was predeceased by her daughter Linda Nastasi. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Joshua (Teresa) Montalbo, Nicholas Costanzo, Allison (John) Petrozzi and Matthew (Carolyn) Montalbo, six great-grandchildren, one sister Dolores (Richard) Hale, a brother Carl Carman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at St. John de LaSalle Church 8477 Buffalo Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
