Jacob F. "Jack" Negast 79, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday August 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Davidsville, PA he was the son of the late Thomas and Ella (Todero) Negast Babalonis.
Jack was raised and attended local schools in Davidsville, PA and graduated from Conemaugh High School. During the Korean War he served in the United States Army. On February 26, 1955 he married Elizabeth "Betty" (Havrilak) Negast in Johnstown, PA. Together they moved to Niagara Falls, NY where Jack worked in the sodium department at E.I Dupont and retired as a supervisor in the early 1990's after 36 years of employment. Jack will be sadly missed by his family whom his life centered around. He was affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Dede" and at Niagara Hospice House as "Jake".
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Jack is survived by his two daughters and one son; Jackie (Cary) Freeman, Patti (John) Lysiak and John Negast all of Niagara Falls, NY. He was predeceased by a daughter and infant son; Lisa A. Negast Brenon and William John Negast. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Leanna, Ryan, Ashley, Elizabeth, Johnny, Jacob, Lauren, Michael and Matthew; one brother Fred (Mary) Negast of San Antonio, TX; and two sisters Florence (late Jack) Spangler of Clovis, NM and Josephine (late William) Shetler of Davidsville, PA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3 – 8 pm at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held Tuesday August 9th at 11 AM with Fr. Volodymyr Zablotskyy, officiating. A prayer service will be offered on Monday at 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment with military honors in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
