Obituary

Jalin Olmeda Rios, 22, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2026. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of his loving parents, Jason Olmeda and Celis V. (Esquilin) Rios.

Jalin’s short life was defined by his faith, his love for his family, and his desire to connect with and help those around him. After attending school in the Niagara Falls School District, he went to work for the same school district as a Special Education Associate. He loved working with the kids there and had a positive and outgoing personality that made it easy for him to make friends in any setting. He was also active with the Boys & Girls Club in Niagara Falls as one of their youth staff, and could often be found playing basketball there. He loved watching basketball and football games and passed the time playing on his Xbox at home when he had downtime. He also enjoyed confidential conversations with both his parents. Jalin was very devoted to his faith and active with his family. He had a personal relationship with Christ that guided his life and shaped his compassionate heart. He will truly be missed and remembered by all who knew him as a bright young man with a caring soul and a smile that could light up a room.

Jalin's memory will be deeply cherished by his parents, Jason Olmeda and Celis V. (Esquilin) Rios; his siblings, Sade, Jason Jr., Juana, Elexie (Will) Hill, Elijah, Jarius, Emma, and Jalil Rios; aunts Maria (Ricardo) Lopez, Anitha (Jesus) Ubiles, Nadine Moore, Belinda (Nate) Vanderberg, Janice (Johnny) Barnes (Godparents); uncles Tony (Delois) Moore, Stanley (Evelyn) Moore, Sr., John Moore, and Alex Caledron; great-aunts Maria (Hector) Esquilin, Isabelle Esquilin; great-uncles Emmett (Helena) Cox, Jr. and Angel Caledron; nieces and nephews John, Liam, Pyrrha, Trinity, Jason III, Century, Emily, and Kyrie; several cousins, including his special cousins Keyla and Natalie Lopez and Tremel Moore, who was like a brother to Jalin; as well a host of friends, colleagues, and church family who knew and loved him. He was sadly predeceased by a niece, Serenity, his paternal grandparents, Gilberto, Sr., Emma Mae (Cox) Rios, and his maternal grandmother, Maria Esquilin.

Services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 PM with the service to immediately follow at 12 PM at Christ Redemption Tabernacle Church, located at 339 22nd Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
