Obituary

James S. Craig Sr., 86, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Sunday September 2, 2012, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY. Born James Craggs in Kellytown, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Bickford) Craggs.

James was raised and educated in Pennsylvania. He moved to the Niagara Falls area from Coalport, PA at the age of 15 and immediately began working for several local industries. On November 8, 1947 he married Lucy M. (Scricco) Craig in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. In 1950 Jim began working for Union Carbide until the start of the New York Power Project in the late 1950's. He worked as a laborer throughout the completion of the entire project and afterwards continued working in construction with Laborers Local 91. In 1964 he started a twenty five year career with Sears Roebuck & Company as a shipping manager and dispatcher until his retirement in 1989. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed gardening and working around his house.

In addition to his wife of sixty four years, Mr. Craig is survived by his two sons, Gary W. (Pamela) Craig of Ransomville, NY, Robert J. (Janice) Craig of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by one son James S. Craig, Jr. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Carrie Ann Craig, Candice Craig, Jesse (Connie) Craig, Sara Craig and Joseph Craig, one sister Leda Mae Bishop of New Jersey and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister, John 'Gib' Craggs, Levenia Flanders, Ellwood Craggs and William Craggs.

James was the beloved son-in-law of the late, Alex and Frances Scricco.

There will be no prior visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In appreciation for the comfort and care shown to Mr. Craig, his family requests memorial offerings in his memory be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094.
