James "Babe" Fasciano, 87, of Sanborn, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Arcangela (Stagno) Fasciano.
James attended local schools and enlisted into the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, until his honorable discharge on November 12, 1952. Following his discharge, he obtained his carpenter's certificate and began a long, successful career with the Carpenters Union Local 280 (formerly The Lathers' Union) prior to his retirement in 1986. Babe took great pride in his work and was instrumental in the construction of many local landmarks, including the Power Project and Terrapin Point.
Mr. Fasciano married his loving wife, Joan (McDonough) Fasciano, in the Town of Niagara in October of 1954. Together they were devout Catholics and longtime parishioners of St. Joseph Church.
Babe was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, mixed martial arts and boxing. He was also a talented boxer and former member of the Knights of Columbus in his younger years.
Jim was an exceptional singer and was invited to try out for the Arthur Godfrey Production show in New York City. He loved the City of Niagara Falls and especially enjoyed spending time at Goat Island. Above all, Babe centered his life around his family and was extremely devoted to caring for them. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Mr. Fasciano is survived by his children, Lynne (Harry) Deal, James (Laurie) Fasciano, Daniel Fasciano, Thomas Fasciano, Janeanne (Michael) Kelly and Angela (Gregory Illig) Fasciano; his grandchildren, Julieanne, Maria, Daniel, Katie, Joseph, James, Beth, Jessica, Thomas, Joan, and was predeceased by one granddaughter Angela. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren; his brother Nelson (late Phyllis) Fasciano, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Babe was predeceased by three siblings, Frank (late Rita), Salvatore (late Genevieve) Fasciano and Christina (late Michael) Emmanuele.

from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:15 A.M., followed by James' Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
