James R. Halliday, Jr., 77, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on February 9, 2026 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in St. Marys, PA, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Sarah A. (McLaughlin) Halliday.

James came to the Niagara Falls area as an infant with his family and remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School and later attended Niagara County Community College. James was employed for 45 years with Try-It Distributing in Niagara Falls and Lancaster, NY, where he was a member of the Teamsters Union until his retirement in 2019. He will be remembered most as a devoted father, grandfather, and brother.

James is survived by his children, Jeremy J. (Mary) Halliday and Sarah V. Halliday (David Boos); and by his nephew, whom he lovingly regarded as a son, Michael (Nicole) Halliday. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Mikayla Halliday, Aidan Boos, Abigail Boos, David Boos, Jr., Nolan Halliday, Mairead Halliday, Fionn Halliday, Conlan Halliday, and Rowen Halliday. In addition, he leaves behind his siblings, Mary (late Kenneth) Smith, Thomas Halliday, and George Halliday, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. James was sadly predeceased by his son, Andrew J. Halliday, SSgt., U.S. Army; his brother, Robert (Sherry) Halliday, MSgt., U.S. Army, and his nephew Stephen R. Halliday.
