James R. Hoffman, 57, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Howard Sr. and Betty (Getz) Hoffman.

James was educated at the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia, NY prior to attending LaSalle Senior High School his senior year, where he was a member of the swim team and band as a saxophone player. Following his graduation, he attended Niagara University.

James was a longtime volunteer and devoted member of Empower of Western New York; and former member of Youngstown Lion's Club. He was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed bowling.

Above all, James was a loving and caring person who will be missed by his loving family and countless devoted friends, including those of CVRC, Empower of WNY and the NYS School for the Blind.

James is survived by his siblings, Luann (Patrick) Pyska, Vicki (Anthony) Muoio, Cathy Hoffman, Howard "Red" (Franzia) Hoffman, Leonard (Pamela) Hoffman and Donna (Tim Burbee) Hoffman. He was predeceased by his infant brother, Thomas Hoffman, and twin brother, Joseph Hoffman; two nephews, Joseph Hoffman and Steven Pyska; and his loving seeing eye dog, Peaches. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 9 ^th from 1 – 3 & 6 – 9 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 A.M. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
