Obituary

James “Jim” Massaro, 71, of Grand Island, NY, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Incorvia) Massaro.

Jim was raised in Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College. On August 27, 1977, he married the love of his life, Marie M. (Borgese) Massaro, at Sacred Heart Church.

Jim retired as a sales representative with Ajinomoto Foods after 22 years of dedication. A longtime parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church, he was deeply rooted in his community. He was also one of the founding members of the Grand Island Little League, where he took great joy in coaching his children throughout their youth. He was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed his weekly Tuesday league at Beaver Island.

Jim centered his life around his family and cherished the many vacations and moments they shared over the years. He also looked forward to attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and school functions. He will be greatly remembered for his personable nature, his kindness, and the genuine warmth he brought to his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Marie, Jim is survived by four children, Jimmy (Karolyn) Massaro, Lisa Mackenna, Anthony (Ashley) Massaro and Laura (Rico) Morales; his grandchildren, Sienna, Greyson, James, Julianna, Layla, Liana, Mia, Leo, Ella and Nina; his sister, JoAnn Massaro; two sisters-in-law, Irene (late Frank) Felicetti and Alberta (Murray) DeMartino, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ida Massaro and his brother-in-law, Anthony (late Sharon) Borgese.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 16 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Jim’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 17 at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY 14072.
