Obituary

James E. Seaman, 70, of the Town of Niagara, NY, went home to be with the lord on March 3, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Born in Medina, NY, he was the loving son of the late Lee Thomas and Gertrude Ruby (Smith) Seaman.

James attended Wilson Central High School in Wilson, NY, as well as local schools in Lockport, NY. On July 27, 1968 he married Donna (Jacobs) Seaman at the Tuscarora Baptist Church in Sanborn, NY. He began working as a farm laborer at Lakeside Farms in Ransomville, NY and later at the College Inn in Lockport, NY in the packing department. For over 18 years, he was employed at Great Lakes Carbon and Graphite in Niagara Falls and was also a member of the International Union Local 463 as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a member and coordinator of the Emergency Management First Responder's Team while living in Pennsylvania during the 1990's.

James was a collector of slot cars and enjoyed racing them with family members, Bill and Joe. He also enjoyed attending Ransomville Speedway, where he watched his close friend, Michael Williams, dirt race. James was an avid World Wrestling Federation fan, NASCAR fan and also loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved attending antique car shows, camping, canning his famous hot peppers and cooking soup for his many friends and family. James and his wife also disc jockeyed at the Lewiston #2 Fire Hall and family parties; and loved to listen to country and western music. He will be greatly missed by his "special kids with paws" Snoopie, Mia and the late Bear Bear.

In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years, James is survived by his brothers Raymond (Darlene) Humphrey and Raymond (Sherry) Seaman; sisters Edith (Estle) Westfall and Patricia Bloomingdale. He was the brother-in-law of Elva (late Gene) Greene, Marlene (late Erwin) Printup, Patricia (late Joseph) Jacobs, Nora (late Russ) Walters, Sharon (Richard) Harkness, Noreen (late Chuck) Reese, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Floyd and Donald Seaman; sisters Shirley (late Gordon) Miller and Gertrude Palmer, and was also the brother-in-law of the late, Marial (late Everett) Hewitt, Sr., Doris (late Pelly) Printup, Elwood (late Diane) Jacobs, Marilyn Kirkland, Donald (late Barb) Bradley, Anthony Jacobs and Virginia (late Hal) Duck.

Visitation Sunday, March 6th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 A.M. at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2088 Mt. Hope Rd. Sanborn, NY 14132. Interment will follow in Hartland Cemetery, Gasport, NY.
