Jean M. (Amey) Sarkees, 89, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY and Lewiston, NY died on Thursday December 27, 2012 at the Fountains of Crystal Lake in Crystal Lake, IL. Born in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (McCaul) Amey.

Jean moved to Canada as a child with her family. She graduated from Napanee Ontario Collegiate and Vocational Institute in 1939. During World War II she did secretarial work in Ottawa, Ontario until moving to the Niagara Falls area in 1945. On March 1, 1950 she married Haleem J. Sarkees in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Sarkees predeceased her on October 5, 1997 and in 2002 moved to Illinois. Jean was also employed for various attorneys in the Gluc Building in Niagara Falls, NY. In her leisure time Jean enjoyed making and donating Boo Boo Bears to pediatric patients at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Jean centered her life on her family and enjoyed flower gardening.

Mrs. Sarkees is survived by two sons John R. (Meredith) Sarkees of Crystal Lake, IL and James H. (Deborah) Sarkees of Grand Island, NY; three grandchildren Kerrie Sarkees, Christine (Aaron) Schreiber and Steven Sarkees and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother John Amey.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 – 6 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimers association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr. #6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380.
