Jean Michele Zarr, 92, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday June 6, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM. Jean was born in Niagara Falls, NY and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kaminski.

Jean was united in marriage to her husband William Z. Zarr on March 2, 1946 in St. Peter's Church in Lewiston, NY. Mr. Zarr passed away on July 26, 1988 after 42 years of marriage.

Jean attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She earned her degree as an x-ray technician from the St Francis Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. in 1942, and was certified as an x-ray technician in 1943. She worked for Doctors Burheit & Henderson in the 1950s and Dr. Garten in the 1970s. She was a past secretary of the New York Society of X Ray Technicians. She also helped her late husband Bill with the office work in his electrical contracting business until he retired in 1982. She was a member of the Niagara County Builders Association Women's Auxiliary, where she was awarded "Woman of the Year". She was also a past member of the Niagara Women's Club, and in her younger years a member of the Echo Club Choir.

Jean loved to cook, and was especially known for her baking, creating superb pastries, pies and carefully crafted cookies. She enjoyed golfing and bowling with her sister Genevieve. After she retired, she attended classes at Daemon College for the sheer joy of enriching her knowledge. She also loved to press flowers the old fashioned way into beautiful greeting cards. Jean moved to Albuquerque to live closer to her son William in 2005.

Jean is survived by one son, William W. (Deborah Gaiani) Zarr of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters Genevieve (late Ted) Komorowski of Niagara Falls, NY and Rose (late Paul) Kelley of Roseville, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Helene (late George) Litsios.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 13th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY. If desired, memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity, 780 Ridge Rd.
