Obituary

Jeanette A. (Desiderio) Scibilia, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday May 2, 2009 while under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice at her residence. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Camillo and Giustina (Paolini) Desiderio. On August 28, 1950 she married Anthony J. Scibilia in St. Joseph's Church, Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Scibilia predeceased her on September 23, 2006.

Everyone who knew Jeanette was touched in some way by her warmth, her kindness, and her gentle sense of humor. She was an avid traveler, and with her husband and children enjoyed visiting many places in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Having the opportunity to visit extended family in Italy was one of her greatest pleasures. For thirty years, Jeanette worked as a Supervisor for Shaklee Products. She was also a member of Niagara Community Church for many years. Having spent many happy years in the musical life of her husband, Tony, a jazz musician, Jeanette showed her appreciation of music and the arts by generously supporting her children in their creative endeavors, and by donating to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in memory of her husband.

Mrs. Scibilia is survived by her four loving children, Michael (Cindy) Scibilia of Pendleton, NY; Robert (Jeannine) Scibilia of Grand Island, NY; Lisa (Kevin) Scibilia Higgins of Amherst, NY; and Anthony R. Scibilia (Irene Su) of Boston, MA; six grandchildren Nicholas (Ashley), Zachary, Michael, Joseph, Marc and Matthew Scibilia; a step-granddaughter Victoria (Brian) Munroe; a step-greatgrandson Luke Munroe; one brother Elio Desiderio of New York City, NY; a sister Yola (late Charles) Civiletto of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Elma Catherine.
