Jeanne Jeras, 65, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after battling covid pneumonia for six weeks. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Vivian (Walters) LaVia.

Jeanne attended local schools and was a 1974 graduate of the former Madonna High School. She married Paul A. Jeras on August 4, 1979 and their son John arrived in 1983. Paul sadly passed away in a tragic work-related accident shortly after John's birth.

Jeanne's work career included several years at the former Marine Midland Bank in Buffalo, NY and 20 years in the shipping and receiving department of Reeds Jewelers in Amherst, NY until her retirement.   She was also a tireless volunteer at Sacred Heart Villa School where her son and nephews received their elementary educations. Jeanne could be found working Bingo, making auction baskets, organizing dinners, selling of tickets and helping the sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus right up until her illness.

Jeanne was an avid baker and made delicious cookies. She also bowled for years with a group of friends, loved high-stakes Bingo in Canada and going to the Casino.

Jeanne will be remembered as a fun loving and outgoing woman with a great sense of humor and beautiful smile, whose main focus was her family and large extended family.

Jeanne is survived by her son, John H. (Jocelyn) Jeras; her loving companion of 35 years David Cecere; two grandsons, Paul and Rocco Jeras who she cherished dearly; two sisters, Joanne (Bill) Justyk and Constance (late Richard) Costello; her mother-in-law, Mary (late Hubert) Jeras; sister-in-law, Jenny Jeras; her niece, Vivian (Todd) Louis; her nephews, William (Dominic) and Frank Justyk, and Sal, John Duke and Patrick LaVia; as well as her three cats, two aunts, many dear cousins and longtime friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank (Laura) LaVia.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 15 from 1 – 3 & 5 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 7 PM.
