Jeanne E. (Tower) Yates, 89, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday January 16, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born on November 26, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late David E. and Ilah (Porter) Tower.

In her early years she was known as Effie Jeanne and she graduated from Lyndonville High School in Lyndonville, NY in 1939. She was predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, Wallace C. Yates Sr. on February 10, 1996. Jeanne loved caring for children at her job with the Niagara Falls Board of Education as a school cafeteria aide and later as a nursery aide for more than twenty years. She also worked in security for the Niagara Falls Convention Center for ten years. Jeanne's greatest joy was spending time with her family and will be remembered for her love of family and her unconditional love for them. She was lovingly called GG by her great grandchildren.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters Jewel (Ronald) Longo of Niagara Falls, NY and Cheryl Yates of Ellenton, FL; step son Ronald (late Janet) Yates of Niagara Falls, NY; her sisters Virginia Nesbitt of Albion, NY; Jascah (late Gordon) Raszl of San Francisco, CA and brother Edgar Dean (Ione) Tower of Santa Maria, CA; fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step son Wallace C. (Yurdanur of Niagara Falls, NY) Yates, Jr.; step daughter Elaine R. White and one granddaughter Pamela Jean White.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 27th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
