Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Joan C. 'Joanne' (Rainer) Candella, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Friday August 17, 2012 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Cleveland, OH she was the daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Whyte) Rainer. Joanne came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family and attended local schools. On June 21, 1952 she married Alfred N. 'Fritz' Candella at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Candella predeceased her on November 1, 1998. Joanne worked as a secretary with her husband in their family business, Niagara Appliance in Niagara Falls, NY. She was later employed by Niagara Regional Off Track Betting and retired as a manager of the Niagara Falls area. In her leisure time, Joanne enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and playing Bingo. Mrs. Candella is survived by two children Cindy (Marty) Bell of Niagara Falls, NY and David (Karen) Candella of the Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren Justin (Theresa) Tweed, Kristina (Wayne) Worthington, Danielle Candella, Tarah Candella and Kayla Candella, two great granddaughters Cadence and Lila, two brothers Norman (Betty) Rainer of Kentucky; Richard (Nancy) Rainer of Amherst, NY; one sister Margaret (late Charles) Pike of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters Shirley (late Peter) Raverinni and Renee Greenhalgh and one brother Harry (Mary of Niagara Falls, NY) Rainer. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday August 20th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Church, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
