Joanne Blake, 83, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Tompkins) Thompson.

Joanne was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School. On June 23, 1962, she married the love of her life, William L. Blake, at St. John de LaSalle Church in Niagara Falls. Together they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage until William's passing on November 20, 2003.

Joanne was employed as a secretary and accountant with her family's business, Thompson Roofing, from 1962 until 1972. She later joined her husband in owning and operating Great Lakes Roofing from 1972 until 1986. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she worked as a secretary for Rivershore, Inc. for five years.

A devoted Buffalo Bills fan, Joanne rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite team. She enjoyed completing puzzles and shopping, and had a lifelong appreciation for music of all genres. Her extensive record collection reflected the joy music brought to her life. Joanne also found great pleasure in tending to her garden, especially her beloved plants and roses.

Known for her generous spirit and welcoming home, Joanne cherished Sunday gatherings with family and friends. She delighted in preparing meals for those she loved and was famous for always making more than enough to share. Intelligent, strong-willed, and fiercely devoted to her family, Joanne treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. She also had a special affection for her beloved cats, Fluffy, Frisky, and Nappy, who brought her companionship and happiness throughout the years.

She is survived by her sons, William F. (Lori) Blake and Damian (late Judy Bautz) Blake; her grandchildren, Michael Blake and Kaitlyn Blake; her siblings, Dan (Maryjean) Thompson, Gail (Hon. Mark) Violante, and Sandra Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Joanne was predeceased by several cherished in-laws.

Private funeral services and entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Joanne's Life will be held in the Spring of 2027.
