Joanne Marie (nee Zarbo) DeRose, 87, was granted her angel wings late Saturday evening after a brief illness, at Niagara Hospice on July 11, 2020.

Mrs. DeRose was born on January 25, 1933 and was a lifetime resident in Niagara Falls, NY. She was employed for many years as a cook at McLeods, DelFredo's and the DiCamillo Bakery prior to retiring from the Como Restaurant in 1997.

Mrs. DeRose will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Terese and Samantha Monti and her great-grandchild, Gino Mario; her great-grand dogger Raven Monroe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was an avid New York Yankees fan and a passionate lover of animals. She was also a fantastic cook which was a given due to her Sicilian heritage.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband Vincent who she married on August 27, 1955 at St. Joseph Church. She was also predeceased by her daughter Kathy Starr Monti and her siblings.

The family would love to send a special thank you to the staff of Niagara Hospice House for all of their care, support and compassion given to Joanne.

Private funeral services with entombment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, will be held privately for Joanne's family. Memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara County S.P.C.A.
