John James Ashton (3/8/56-9/6/25), of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, and will be laid to rest alongside family at Los Gatos Memorial Park in the San Jose, California area where John resided for a significant amount of his life.

John was a devoted husband to Gloria (Avojan), a loving father to Johnny (Kayla), Kristy, Georgina "Gina", Jim Moreland, and Joe (Rachel) Moreland and a proud grandfather to Cannon, Isaac and Nylah (Joe and Rachel), Rose and Olivia Ashton (Johnny and Kayla) and bestfriend since birth to his sister Carol Ashton. He will also be dearly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Dolores Ashton, brothers Daniel and Joseph Ashton, and son Marc Ashton.

A Mechanical Engineer by profession, John carried his love for creating and building into his personal life, always finding joy in having a project to work on. He was a man whose life centered on the time he spent with family. He had a gift for bringing a positive perspective to any conversation and filling a room with warmth and laughter.

He had a deep love for his pets, treating them as cherished members of the family. His interests extended to history, culture, cars, and traveling, all of which enriched his life and gave him countless stories to share.

John leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
