John A. Berds, 71, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday November 10, 2011 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Mary G. (Enzinna) Berds of Niagara Falls, NY and the late John B. "Bud" Berds.

John was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1958. From 1959 until retiring in 2006, John owned and operated Berds Floor Co., a family business his grandfather began in 1925. On September 19, 1979 he married Patricia (Byham) Berds in Lewiston, NY. John enjoyed remodeling homes, working with electronics and camping.

In addition to his wife of thirty two years, John is survived by two daughters Barbara (Norman) Barry of Niagara Falls, NY and Lori (John) Anthony of Grand Island, NY; four grandchildren Stephen (Danielle) DePalma, Edward Barry both of Niagara Falls, NY; Jordan Anthony and Jack Anthony both of Grand Island, NY; one great grandson Stephen DePalma, his former wife Fran Berds of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the step father of Wendy (Kirk) Orr of Iowa; Lisa Mesler and Vicki Mesler both of Lewiston, NY; step grandfather of Phillip (Donna) Mesler, Steven Healey, Harold (Krystena) Healey and Amanda Picollo all of Niagara Falls, NY; and step great grandfather of Arynna Rosiro, Elijah Mesler, Emma Fifkey and Mathew Fifkey.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday November 14th at 12:00 noon at St. Raphael Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating.
