John J. Bongiovanni, 76, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin E. and Edith (Toole) Bongiovanni.

John graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls. John proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971.  In 1976 he began working as a Chemical Operator at Occidental Chemical Co. and later retired in 2001 as a supervisor. As a gifted musician, John enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, as well as dancing. He also enjoyed playing video games and was an avid bowler for many years at the Bowl A Drome.

John is survived by his children, Lisa Hess, John Vincent 'Vinnie' Bongiovanni, David Bongiovanni, Sarah Bongiovanni; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Kochan, Corinne Kochan, Zachary Hess, Gabrielle Bongiovanni, Benjamin Bongiovanni and was sadly predeceased by his grandson, Christian Kochan.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 12 from 4 – 8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13 at 11:00 AM. Military Honors and interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to Oishei Children's Hospital or the Niagara County SPCA.
