John Bongiovanni age 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away September 14, 2018 at Beechwood Healthcare Facility, Getzville, NY. He was born in Dayton, PA. He was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Fera) Bongiovanni. John came to Niagara Falls in the mid 1940's with his family. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1951, graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla, with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies, and received his Master's Degree in Social Work form the University of Buffalo.

Mr. Bongiovanni was the beloved husband of Josephine "Lydia" (Rizzo) Bongiovanni. They married on October 17, 1953 at The Italian Christian Church in Niagara Falls. He was the former Director of NYS Department of Probation & Correctional Alternatives in Western New York. He began his career as a Niagara County Probation Officer advancing to a Probation Consultant with the Buffalo Office Staff. John was an active member of Forestview Church of God for many years. He enjoyed golfing, reading and being an avid "Outlet Mall Walker." Most of all, he was a good provider and support to his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul (Marie) Bongiovanni and Richard (Jill) BonGiovanni , cherished grandfather of Tim (Katie) Bongiovanni, Jason (Dyanne) Bongiovanni, Kathryn "Katie" Bongiovanni, Michael (Brianna) BonGiovanni , Ashley Bongiovanni, great-grandfather of Nathan and Liam Bongiovanni, his siblings Anna Bongiovanni, Rev. Frank BonGiovanni, Mary (late George) King, Jessie (late Richard) Carter, predeceased by a brother Rev. Guy (Esther) BonGiovanni, and a sister Petrina (late Joseph) Cacciatore as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6 - 9PM at  M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS . A funeral service will take place on Saturday September 22, at 11 AM in Forestview Church of God 1250 Saunders Settlement Rd, Niagara Falls. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
