John A. Cortellini, Sr. quietly passed away on Friday February 6, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Anna (Morreale) and Pasquale "Patsy" Cortellini.

John was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools graduating from Trott High School. Mr. Cortellini also graduated from Lee D'Forst Technological College.

John served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

On September 14, 1950 he married Dorothy (Magliazzo) Cortellini, his beloved wife, at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him on September 18, 2002.

Mr. Cortellini was employed with Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield, NY in the Production Control Office. He retired May 1, 1987.

John is survived by his sons, John, Jr. (Cynthia) and Mark (Susan) Cortellini both of Rochester, NY as well as the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Marcus, Jonathan and Justina. He is also survived by his sister Rose (late Frank) Ianni of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Sarah (late Jack) Ferrante.

Friends may call on Monday February 9th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with the Rev. James Fugle, officiating. Entombment with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In respect to Mr. Cortellini's wishes, flowers are graciously declined, and memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631 Buffalo, New York 14240.
