John J. Dallessandro, 66, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Buffalo, NY he was the son of the late Louis and Jane (Kozuch) Dallessandro.
John attended Emerson Vocational School in Buffalo, NY. On April 5, 1986 he married Marian (Farella) Dallessandro at St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Following his marriage he moved to the Niagara Falls area where he lived until the present time. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three sons Dominic J. Dallessandro, Dean V. Dallessandro and David M. Dallessandro all of North Tonawanda, NY; his beloved granddaughter Dixie Rose Dallessandro, one brother Pasquale "Pat" (late Joy) Dallessandro of Tonawanda, NY; two sisters-in-law Petrina "Pat" (late Richard) Tribunella of Rochester, NY and Anita (Richard) DeMunda of Henderson, NV; several nieces and nephews and his dear friends Anthony and Kathy Antonucci.
John was employed by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company as a merchant seaman for ten years and was proud to serve on the William G. Mather, which is now a maritime museum. He previously owned Sparkle Cleaning Service and worked at the Historical Square and Ridgeview Apartments in Lewiston. He retired from The Seneca Niagara Casino this past September.
John was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Catholic Church in Niagara Falls and was proud to chair their spaghetti dinners for several years, but his greatest joy was playing "Santa Claus" at the children's annual Christmas party. John loved to fish and enjoyed camping with friends at Willow Beach. He was also a member of the Niagara River Anglers Association and a former member of the Lewiston Moose Lodge. He had a kind and gentle soul and truly loved meeting people and being with his family and friends.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Everyone assemble at St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Catholic Church, 250 27th Street, Niagara Falls, NY where a prayer service will be held Saturday September 11, 2010 at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with the Very Rev. Frank Kadryna officiating. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
