Obituary

John Patrick D'Anna, 87 of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully December 18, 2020, while under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice House and in the presence of his loving family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ann (Peila) D'Anna.

For the past 64 years John was the devoted husband to Mary (Caridi) D'Anna, who predeceased him by 109 days on September 1, 2020.  John's smile, presence and consistently engaging charisma and quick wit were hallmarks of his personality. From the father who would give anything for his children, to the neighborhood Dad who would load all the guys into his mustang convertible and take us to Hyde Park to play, to the Tyro Football coach, John was generous with his time and resources, willing to help friends or anyone in need.  Articulate, well dressed and always the gentlemen, John was happiest in the company of Family and friends, often hosting gatherings along with his soul mate, Mary. Throughout their entire adult life John and Mary took every opportunity to dance, their enjoyment surpassed only by their proficiency.  John often acknowledged his single greatest achievement was his marriage to his wife and the love they shared. An avid golfer, he valued the time spent with his Uncles Joe and Russ and especially his grandson Nicholas. John was a retiree from Niagara County and served in the US Army.

John is survived by his three sons; John A. (Kathleen) D'Anna of Annandale, NJ; Russell J. (Mary Ann) D'Anna of Webster, NY; and Steven A. (Nicole) D'Anna of Honeoye Falls, NY.  A loving Grandfather, John is also survived by nine grandchildren, Nicholas B. (Sheena) D'Anna, Robert Burns, John N. (Hillary) D'Anna, James R. D'Anna, Joseph A. D'Anna, Stefan Brundage, Antonino D'Anna, Giovanni D'Anna, Isabella D'Anna, Marlayna D'Anna, great granddaughter, Kaia Rose D'Anna, brother Pat (Nancy) D'Anna of South Carolina.  Also survived by, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews, cousins and Godchildren.  John was the brother of the late Mary Ann (D'Anna) (late Dominick) Capannola.

John's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the physicians, nurses, home healthcare workers and Hospice staff for their exceptional efforts and compassionate care demonstrated daily.   Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to Catherine (Caridi) Catalano (sister-in-law) for her benevolent care and dedication to John specifically notable following the passing of her sister.
