John Fiori, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Monday September 2, 2013 at Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls, NY under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Carlo and Rose (Corsaro) Fiori.

John was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. He later attended Erie County Community College in Buffalo, NY where he completed Instrumentation Courses. He served in the US Army from May 11, 1951 to April 30, 1953. He was stationed in Germany where he received the Army Occupation Medal and was honorably discharged before the Korean War ended. John was employed by Hooker Chemical Corp. in Niagara Falls as a repairman in the Chlorine Dept and retired after thirty six years. While at Hooker, he was an active member of the NHEU union and served as an officer for many years. One of his greatest pleasures in the union was negotiating new contracts. John also served as the longest Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Niagara Falls which he did for thirty two years. He was a member of Portage Post #1465 American Legion and Niagara County Sportsmen's club for many years. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of 52 years, his daughter Debora (Richard) Redpath of Ohio, three grandchildren, Richard Redpath III, Victoria (Joshua) Smith and James Redpath of Ohio, aunt Geraldine Corsaro, sister Jeannine (Rodgers) Spencer of Okmulgee, OK, brother-in-law Howard Pierce of North Tonawanda and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his son John Fiori, Jr. and infant daughter Patricia Fiori. He was also predeceased by brothers Frank (late Mary) Fiori, Anthony (Josephine) Fiori, Joseph (late Emma) Fiori, sisters Lillian (late Theodore) Liebenauer, Elizabeth (late Dominic) Zito, Angeline (Harold) Hoak.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday September 9th at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jeff Vogt officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY with Military Honors.
