John Joseph Gabriele, Sr. 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 21, 2011 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY the son of the late Antonio and Maria (D'Ambrosio) Gabriele. John attended Center Avenue School and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1953.

While stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, he met and married his former wife, Irene (Cantu). John worked and retired from Nabisco on Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. John loved horse racing and was an avid fan of his beloved New York Giants and New York Yankees. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and friends.

In addition to his former wife, John is survived by his four children Nina Carter, John (Margy) Gabriele both of Niagara Falls, NY; Robert (Laura Jean) Gabriele of Ransomville, NY and Frank Gabriele of Niagara Falls, NY; he will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Antonio, Alyssa, Gillian, Ana, Michael and Gabrielle who were the greatest joy of his life. He is also survived by his brother Charles Gabriele of Niagara Falls, NY and two nephews Anthony and Charles and many cousins.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday June 27th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005, Boston MA 02241.
