John C. Humphrey, NFPD Retired, 64, of Tonawanda, NY passed away Monday February 23, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital. Beloved husband of Lois (DiNieri) Humphrey; loving father of Michelle (Shawn Wheeler) Humphrey and Kristen (Frank Mottern) Humphrey; son of Marcelle (Dossogne) Humphrey-Rodwick and the late Robert W. Humphrey; brother of George Humphrey, Steven Stamatoplos, Anthony Stamatoplos, Robert Stamatoplos, Barbara Stamatoplos, and Catherine Johnson; brother-in-law of Ruth (Randy) Ledingham and Anthony DiNieri; son-in-law of the late Anthony and WavaDiNieri; also survived by nieces and nephews.
John started his 33 year career in law enforcement as a patrolman with the Niagara Falls Police Department in 1974. He was promoted to detective and assigned to the drug task force in 1987, where he served as an instrumental member for 14 years. After the events of September 11, 2001John was assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) office in Buffalo,working on many cases including the Lackawanna six. He later served as a training instructor at the FBI office in Quantico, VA. John, along with his daughters, enjoyed working on his classic cars, and attending many classic car cruise nights in the area. He possessed a keen interest in many hobbies, and excelled at obtaining the most from what he put his mind to. He was truly a policeman's policeman, a loyal friend and touched many lives. Most important, John was devoted to the care and well being of his loving family.
Visitation Friday 3 to 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS where funeral services will be held Saturday February 28th at 11:00 AM with Deacon Pat Bradley officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
