John J. Mattio, Esq., 73, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away at Roswell Park Memorial Institute on December 14, 2017.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late John and Lena (Baldassara) Mattio.  John was predeceased by his wife Barbara E. (Merritt) Mattio who passed away on March 18, 2012.

John was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and University of Buffalo Law School.  He was a member of the Niagara Falls Bar Association and practiced law in the Niagara Falls Area for 40 years.  John also served for 16 years as the Town of Wheatfield Judge.

John enjoyed golfing, cooking and spending time with his family at Sunday dinners and family gatherings.

John is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Mattio Ventry, Chavonne Mattio and Diana Corra Giarrizzo, former son-in-law Jeremy Johnson and was papa to, Alexander Ventry, Dylan Harris, Alexis Mountain, Laney Mattio and Anne Giarrizzo.  Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, December 20 ^th at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at the St. Vincent DePaul Parish, St. Leo's Church Site, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY, 14094.
