John M. ' Mazzock' Mazzocchi, 61 of Lewiston, NY died on Friday December 19, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Geneva, NY, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Elizabeth (Kitcho) Mazzocchi.

John came to the Niagara Falls area as a young child with his family. He attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1966, and later served in the United States Army. On October 5, 1968 he married Frances M. (Passalacqua) Mazzocchi in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. For thirty eight years Mazzock was employed as a machinist at the former Great Lakes Carbon Corporation in Niagara Falls. John was an avid sports fan and talented pool player. For over forty years, he participated in various pool leagues throughout Niagara Falls and was considered one of the best area pool players. Mazzock was well liked and loved by all who knew him and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of forty years, he is survived by one son John D. Mazzocchi of Charlotte, NC, his grandson Nicolas Mazzocchi, one brother Michael (Alice) Mazzocchi of Baton Rouge, LA and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. John was the son-in-law of Richard (late Felicia) Passalacqua of Lewiston, NY.

Friends may call on Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Tuesday December 23rd at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 27th Street and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14092.
