Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
John R. Minicucci, 85, of the Town of Niagara, died on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Frank and Julia (DelGobbo) Minicucci.
John, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, attended local schools including Niagara University. He later attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo Law School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force with the Ninth Troop Carrier Squadron as a Staff Sergeant from February 26, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 23, 1946 and was the recipient of an American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He married Mae Ann (Marillo) Minicucci at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. John had a private law firm and practiced law for more than fifty years until his retirement in 2007. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching sporting events, especially his alma mater Niagara University which he faithfully followed.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children John R. (Cheryl) Minicucci of Virginia, Gerarda (Philip) Burke of Niagara Falls, NY and Frank (Reenie) Minicucci of Texas, five grandchildren Jennifer, Mark, Michael, Kelly Minicucci and Jeffrey David Burke, one brother Robert (Maureen) Minicucci of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother Albert (Norma of the Town of Niagara) Minicucci and one sister Joan Sanfilippo.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday November 30th at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston NY. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
