Obituary

John A. Rizzo, 76 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday August 21, 2015 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of the late Leonard and Philomena (Marrapode) Rizzo.

John was raised and educated in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on December 22, 1958. On April 6, 1961, he married Marlene A. (Grafton) Rizzo in St. Mary's Church in Kittanning, PA, and together moved to the Niagara Falls area in 1965. John began working in Niagara Falls at the former National Lead/Titanium Alloy. Afterwards, he went on to own and operate PAL Electronics for over twenty years. John and his wife also owned and operated Rizzo's Furniture and Antiques.

John was an avid golfer and participated in local bowling leagues. He also enjoyed the casino and going to Antique World in Buffalo every week. John was also a member of several local organizations including, the Elks Club #346, the V.F.W. #917, Cristoforo Colombo Society and Moose Lodge.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Rizzo is survived by his daughter Elizabeth A. Rizzo of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by his son John A. Rizzo. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Joseph Anthony Rizzo and Nicole Jane Rizzo, one sister Joi (Finley) Taylor of Homer City, PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Margaret Marrapode, Jeanne Mitchell and one brother Ken Marrapode.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday August 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating, concluding with Military Honors. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBEL AT CHURCH. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241.
